The base text editor should have the capability to sort selected lines (alphabetically, numerically, case sensitive/insensitive, reversed, starting at specified column).  There is a third-party plug-in that does some of this but its such a fundamental programming feature that it should be included in Eclipse's base text editor rather than reinvented in each language specific editor.

See http://www.stateofflow.com/projects/2/sortit.  It works for me in Eclipse 3.5.2 although I'm having some problems getting its right-click context menu to consistently appear in my GNATbench Ada editor (Ada perspective).

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.
