Description Jens Seidel CLA 2009-05-28 07:30:44 EDT
Build ID: 3.4.0 I20090313-0100

Steps To Reproduce:
Whenever I report a bug in Eclipse I have to dig the version number of the affected plugins. I select "About Eclipse Platform" -> "Installation Details". There I can open the popup menu which contains "Copy". Nevertheless I cannot insert the copied text into other applications by pressing the middle mouse button as usual in X (selection buffer, see also: http://www.pixelbeat.org/docs/xclipboard.html).

I really don't know how the current behaviour can be useful. At least for me the About dialog is modal. So I cannot even copy the text in a temporary text editor in Eclipse itself without closing the dialog (and later reoping for the next version string).

I don't know if clipboard managers such as Klipper can be
used/configured to help in this case but I know that such programs are nearly unusable with Eclipse because of bug #191665/#153809 (13 votes!).

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
