If one selects several lines there should be an indicator in the UI of the
number of lines selected.

This implementation needs the changes addressed in bug 25961.

If this proposal is accepted:

Please incorporate only this patch and not the patch for 25961 -- the status
fields have to be of different sizes to make this proposal look good.

Still don't see the need/use case for this. The only scenario I can think of 
is that of using a screen reader, but haven't seen any request from them. 
Moving to later until there is a more obvious demand for it.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
