Description Francis Upton IV CLA 2008-08-30 06:27:58 EDT
I'm drawing lines to and from tree cells. Drawing from a tree cell is easy, because I can start at the end of TreeItem.getBounds(). However drawing a horizontal line into a tree cell from the left is more difficult. TreeItem.getImageBounds() is not sufficient as I need to not draw though the expander (on expandable elements). On Linux there seems to be a way to get the size of this, but I can't get it through any SWT API.

Something like TreeItem.getExpanderBounds() would be nice. It would be nice if TreeItem.getBounds() returned the x value of the point to the right of the expander (or to the right of the image if there is no expander) -- currently on Linux it returns the right side of the text (which I would expect from TreeItem.getTextBound().) But I'm sure people are used to it working that way so it cannot be changed.

This a request for new API.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
