Help - Eclipse SDK > Java Development User Guide > Getting Started > Basic tutorial > Creating your first Java Project diercts to download "Example Plug-ins". Using Sun JDK 1.5, lots of warnings show up. Given that beginners are probably the ones who would be going through these warnings may worry them, in that they don't understand them or know how to clear them - which means their initial experience is not as smooth as it could be.

In particular, further down in "Debugging your programs", the debug icon in the left margin ends up hidden behind a warning icon - which was confusing for a while.

It would improve peoples first exposure to Eclipse if the examples were updated to avoid these multitude of Generics warnings.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
