Found in 3.3M4.

I was editing a file that had compile errors and decided to start over so I did a 'replace with latest from HEAD'. The file got replaced but the error adornment remained in the editor's tab (even though the file now compiled cleanly).

The adornment remained through multiple changes/saves/compiles but a close/reopen got rid of it.

I also saw this several time (although not in M4) but can't reproduce it. The important point is that the error marker (IMarker) was still on the file and even on modification of the file wasn't cleared.
So it's not a but in the edior, but either of the compiler or the platforn did not clean all the markers of the file to be recompiled.

Moving to jdt.core. Maybe they know more.

Eric,

Can you reproduce it?
