This is a bug in GCC 4.0 that causes gdb to fail. It only affects gdb > 6.3, linux, x86 systems. The fix is to disable displaying local variables in main() for this architecture. Apparently the gdb failure will be fixed in 6.6. I get this too. I have gdb 6.5. The latest build should fix this problem. Are you testing with the latest build?
