I may only reset the "last recently used filters" in the package explorer by editing the file ".metadata/.../workbench.xml".

I would like to "purge" the history manually 
or maybe define a history size to keep the menu from growing too large
or give a time to live like the history in my web browser (e.g. Thunderbird)
