Eclipse hints, tips, and random musings

… A Man With a Tape Recorder up his Nose

Earlier today, Bjorn announced his departure from the Eclipse Foundation. As Mike later noted, I am stepping into the role of Director, Committer Community. I’m really looking forward to the challenges presented by this great opportunity.

I think that Bjorn and I share a lot of common goals. We both want to reduce unnecessary barriers and make it easier for the largest number of people possible to be successful in contributing to Eclipse. We both care about increasing the value of Eclipse to the broader community in general. We share a love of private aviation (though Bjorn has taken the all-important steps of learning how to fly and acquiring an airplane), and made-for-TV movies starring Megan Follows (though I’m not totally sure that Bjorn was fully paying attention when we discussed this).

I’ll be at JAX/EFE in Mainz, Germany this week and then at EclipsIST in Istanbul, Turkey the next. If you want to discuss the changes and let me know what you think, please feel free to approach me. I know that I’ll be at the “JAX Ballroom” at Wednesday night at 9.15 p.m. I look forward to seeing you.

FWIW, the title of this post is a homage to the title of Bjorn’s post. There’s no hidden meaning.

LOL. For those who still are unsure on the reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0gzQS4w1sc

    Monty Python really were brilliant.

On a more serious note, Wayne you have some big shoes to fill, but I am sure you will do a great job for the committer community.
