Weird. What is the bug number? I was messing with exactly the same thing today (installing JDT into a bare platform, both RC1) and it seemed to work fine for me. I'd be interested in this bug.

Sorry you are right the bug is opened. You opened it as you were blogging.
Note that at stage of the installation, no jdt bundles should have been installed and there should be no need to revert.

Seva: I don't think I understand your point. I've got clean Eclipse Platform with nothing over it on purpose. I want just to install specific features with no additional stuff (I don't need Mylyn or CVS for instance). So according to the idea, I need to just install JDT afterward. In Ganymede it works perfectly, BTW.

Good to see that the number of Maven users is increasing in the Eclipse community :-).

I'm sorry you evaluated q4e... the last release is a bit rusty since we have not been able to solve all the IP issues involved in the move to the Eclipse Foundation. Many improvements have been committed to the Eclipse SVN already.

On the other hand, we would like to know which where your pain points with q4e (I could not find any issues on bugzilla. We area friendly bunch :-) , come and tell us what you'd like to be improved on the newsgroup or devlist.

Seva: I promise to reevaluate it again one day :)

You know that you don't need mvnrepository.org to search for your libraries? This functionality is already in m2eclipse and well integrated into the POM editor.

Seva: Yeah, I saw it, but for some reason it just doesn't work. It only shows me the artifacts which are already configured in my projects. Anyway, I'm using Nexus to proxy all the artifacts, so the direct integration is less important.

They "package" a lot somewhat different making everything duplicate. They miss the point of eclipse I think. Example: I have up to date Subclipse installed, but Aptana "insists" on installing again in their "own" version. All I wanted is their PHP editor...

They must be changing something other than package names. If they are, shouldn't they be contributing the changes back to PDT? Or at least the patches of their changes to PDT should be public, due to the EPL.

Ummm.... I don't get it.

Stealing refers to taking property without permission. The Eclipse foundation was created to support open source and intended for others to use the code.

The only potential moral problem I can imagine would be if Aptana claimed that they wrote the code themselves - but your (and Zend's) name is on it and they did not even remove that.

Infact, Aptana makes all their code open source as well - so I can't imagine anyone complaining about it.
