Eclipse Galileo RC1 Update Manager RT Equinox P2 is still not good enough for me yet
I’ve just failed to install JDT over clean Eclipse Platform RC1 (and this time a bug has been opened):
An error occurred while installing the items
session context was:(profile=PlatformProfile, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.provisional.p2.engine.phases.Install, operand=null –> [R]org.eclipse.ant.ui 3.4.0.v20090504, action=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint.eclipse.actions.InstallBundleAction).
Error while loading manipulator.
Error while loading manipulator.
Retrying causes the message immediately. Reverting to the previous installation stage does not help. Restarting does not help either.
It’s very sad that what they call Release Candidate is still rare. Waiting for the release…

Seva, I have not seen a bug reported about this error with your name. Please open one ASAP with precise steps so we can reproduce. Thx.

Sorry you are right the bug is opened. You opened it as you were blogging.
Note that at stage of the installation, no jdt bundles should have been installed and there should be no need to revert.
Seva: I don’t think I understand your point. I’ve got clean Eclipse Platform with nothing over it on purpose. I want just to install specific features with no additional stuff (I don’t need Mylyn or CVS for instance). So according to the idea, I need to just install JDT afterward. In Ganymede it works perfectly, BTW.

Weird. What is the bug number? I was messing with exactly the same thing today (installing JDT into a bare platform, both RC1) and it seemed to work fine for me. I’d be interested in this bug.
