You got 3.4 in your 3.3!
Damn. While I did manage to get PDT 1.0 to run on 3.4, I managed to break Update Manager because:
- In 3.3.1.1, I now have a working Mylyn 2.2 which prereqs 3.4 (so can’t be updated, but does work). This prevents any other updates, like PDT 1.0 -> 1.0.1.
- In 3.4, I have EMF 2.4, WTP 3.0 (features are 2.1 though, whatever)… but I get errors trying to install any updates.
Not sure yet if this is (l)user error / PEBCAK or an actual bug. Kids, don’t try this at home.

By the way, Nick, is there is an update site for WTP that works on 3.4?

Yes, but don’t be shocked when you discover you’ve installed 2.1, not 3.0. There’s apparently some confusion (in my mind, anyway) about the logic of having a zip called 3.0 when ALL its features/plugins are called 2.1.0 or less.
You can use either of these:

http://download.eclipse.org/releases/ganymede/staging/

Thanks Nick. Apparently I already have those in my bookmarks, but last week WTP update site been complaining that it wouldn’t install on Eclipse 3.4. Seems like something been changed since then. It is rather sad to lose XML editor just because of migrating from Eclipse 3.3 to 3.4. Can someone address that issue for the future?

A detailed bug, with feature versions, JDK level, and OS specifics would go a lot farther than a blog comment.

FYI, the bug about UM totally failing to work in case of the slightest version mismatch is https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=151797

Nick: note that you will want the 3.4 version of Mylyn for Eclipse 3.4 (we have two streams). I added a note on the update failure that you saw to the third paragraph of: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Mylyn_FAQ#Installation_Troubleshooting
